A series of photographs made in collaboration with artist Lauren Jane Sheerman to provide imagery in support of a collection of poems entitled ‘Hag’ made during her residency at The Pod, Coventry. We went to Canley Ford to visually conceptualise and capture the notion of the wisened old witch woman, who is, fundamentally, often simply a misunderstood woman who possesses a deep and enviable knowledge of nature. A true outsider, female and ‘strange’, dwelling further afield than the fringes, the Hag is a folkloric staple, a classic stereotype, and visibly invisible amongst us to this day.
