Bio

Adele Mary Reed was born in 1988 in Warwickshire, UK and is now based in Coventry in the West Midlands. She has been experimenting with photographic imagery, written word, collage and video through diaristic practices from a very young age. She graduated with a First Class BA [Hons] in Photography from Coventry University in 2016 and has exhibited widely across the UK.

Adele carefully observes the places she finds herself in seeking to playfully highlight the inconspicuous beauty of day-to-day life through using a range of analogue photographic materials. She is interested in the materiality and haphazard nature of film and video tape, taking unplanned walks, plant-life, moods of stillness and balance, topographical themes and since her child was born in 2017, representations of motherhood.

Adele facilitates Mothers Who Make Coventry, a fluid collective of artists who are mothers and a dynamic programme of happenings produced primarily with Coventry Biennial, but also through partnerships with a range of local organisations such as The Tin Music & Arts, University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire, Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust, The Pod and Food Union, and Compton Verney.

She also works on digital management with Theatre Absolute, has a studio at Coventry Artspace and occasionally DJs a wide range of electronic and experimental music at local events.
